The waistband is ornamented with two buttons. The pants are full and gather at the cuff around the ankle. The jockey-style cap has a visor and is sewn up the sides where it meets at the crown. This is a one piece outfit that is quite handsome.

Gabardine is a smooth and tightly woven fabric that creates a prominent diagonal parallel ribbing on the top of the material but a smooth surface on the back (twill). This tight, twill-weave makes it durable yet attractive. It shows much less dirt and wear than regular fabric and is wrinkle and crease resistant.
